Cordierite Honeycomb Ceramic Material Properties
Cordierite honeycomb ceramics are made from synthetic cordierite (primarily composed of silica, alumina, and magnesia) by adding a binder and a burn-out agent, then extruding and firing at high temperatures. Their core features include:
1. Low thermal expansion coefficient: The thermal expansion coefficient is , providing strong thermal shock resistance and withstanding engine temperatures of 250-950°C and corrosive gases.
2. High specific surface area: The regular pore structure and large specific surface area provide a suitable attachment site for catalysts, improving catalytic efficiency.
3. High mechanical strength: The compressive strength reaches, and the ceramics exhibit excellent wear and impact resistance.
Excellent chemical stability: Resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, it is suitable for use in complex chemical environments.
Cordierite honeycomb ceramics are widely used in environmental protection, industry, energy and other fields due to their low thermal expansion coefficient, high specific surface area, excellent thermal shock resistance and chemical stability.
